Leadership & Entrepreneurship in Ireland – Day 5

The students got a respite from a pretty taxing schedule so far.  We had the morning in Dublin to catch up on team projects, and then traveled via coach to Sligo.  It was nice to get out of the city and all the congestion to the beautiful countryside with rolling, lush hills.

On their own, the students have studied leaders as varied as the Lord Mayor of Dublin the founders of the Portherhouse Brewing Company, and managing director at Enterprise Ireland.  Next week, two of the student teams will interview leaders at Webroot (with offices in Boulder as well), and WhatClinic.ie (which has ties to Enterprise Ireland and the Dublin Web Summit mentioned in the Day 4 blog).

In Sligo, we were met by Feargus Callagy, a local entrepreneur with an innovate business called FreeDiveIreland.  Feargus and I had a great chat about business, politics, religion, Ireland, the US, and all things in between.  It’s funny how I met someone online through Seth Godin’s tribe, and it was like we’d known each other for years!

We reviewed tomorrow’s activities, which will include LotusWorks, Protek Medical and the Sligo Chamber of Commerce.  And by the way, the Sligo Hotel staff couldn’t be nicer or more efficient.

It’s great to be near my ancestral home in Mayo, and looking forward to seeing the relatives this weekend!
