Ireland Course Finale

This year’s students performed extraordinarily well working with five different start-up organization in Dublin this summer.

IMG_2658Napoleon Hill famously said, “It is literally true that  you can succeed  best and quickest by helping others to succeed.”

When we first went to Ireland with students in 2011, we sat passively as we listed to 30 different speakers present to us all around the country.  When we departed , we felt like we had taken a great deal, but left nothing in our wake.  In subsequent years, we have sought out opportunities for the students to take on small marketing research projects while in Ireland to not only learn, but to learn best by giving back.

I have come to the conclusion that one of the best ways to teach my students is to create an environment where they are out of their comfort zone, working on complex problems, and then teach what they’ve learned.  Success to me is when there is a lingering desire in each students to learn more by taking risks, connecting with people that can assist them, and taking the time to reflect, adjust, and press on.

We had a great turnout on June 16, 2014 for the students presentations, and I would like to especially thank many of my former students for coming out as well as business leaders, parents, the Irish Network of Colorado, and a special thanks for Dennis Gallagher, Denver’s City Auditor.
