Today was mostly a free day for the students. We started off with an early tour of Kilmainham Gaol (jail), which helps the students understand the last 100 years of Irish history, and how the Republic came to be. It was interesting in that the tour guide pointed out the leaders of the rebellion were just “normal” folks – teachers, poets, idealists… Sure seems to me the important part is a passion for a vision greater than oneself: Courage, resourcefulness, humility, collaboration, discipline, and focus.
Tonight is the welcome dinner, and tomorrow is the only full day off for the students, and then we start in earnest on Monday!
